Gatebox, the Tokyo company known for character-display devices, announced on May 30, 2026, that it had co-produced a “Digital Figure Box” featuring the popular illustrator and VTuber Shigure Ui, tied to her “Uitopia” exhibition.
The product ships in two versions. The “normal costume” edition includes footage from the Uitopia 2026 exhibition plus an original “wake-up” feature that rouses the user with new voice and video. The “live costume” edition adds a “support timer” that encourages focused work intervals.
Buyers scan a download card with the dedicated app to retrieve the digital figure, then dock their smartphone in the physical box to display the animated character at home. The figures went on display at the Uitopia venue from May 31.
The launch extends Gatebox’s strategy of monetizing virtual characters through interactive at-home hardware and app experiences.
